Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4 rally Monte Carlo 1991 - 1/24 Dmodelkits
Share
Hi there everyone im DH Modelworx and it’s time to introduce the next build on my bench.
So next up is the very nice kit from D.Modelkits, the 1/24 Ford Sierra Cosworth as driven in the 1991 Rallye Monte-Carlo.
This will be done in the Q8 Ford motorsport colours.
I’m still undecided as to the driver/co driver livery but I’m leaning towards Malcolm Wilson and Nicky Grist.
As usual the paints have been supplied by Zero Paints - Automotive Model Paints. (Please note these paints now come in glass bottles, I’ve had this kit since it first came out).
I’ve also got the USCP Cosworth Engine/engine bay transkit for it.
So that’s about it, I’ll be cracking on with this soon. I hope you will all like the progress, and as always thanks for popping by for a look.
stay tuned for the next steps
Cheers
DH.

Update 2 11/11/2025
Hi there everyone, here’s is the first update on the 1/24 D.Modelkits Ford Sierra Cosworth Q8 Ford Motorsport.
First off I thought I’d start with the shell, I was impressed that there was very little to clean up to be done on the shell. For a companies first kit, I’ve got to say I’m impressed.
Anyways the first thing I did was cut open the bonnet in preparation for using the USCP engine kit. This kit comes with a nice new bonnet with some nice detailing on the inside.
It was then onto the roof vents, which I wanted to be displayed open. With the kit vents being one piece PE it wasn’t an option to modify these, so using some plastic card I made my own, also using some 0.5mm Top Studio rivets.
The body was primed with Zero Paints - Automotive Model Paints white primer.
The front lights were painted with Zero’s Titanium Silver before I cut some circles to be used as masks. Yeh I forgot to paint and mask the rear lights. I’ll do this later.
I knew from the start to get a better more uniform finish I didn’t want to use the kit decals for the stripes.
Firstly I sprayed the cream from Zero Paints Q8 paint set, I then masked off and painted the blue from the same set.
The red and yellow stripes were then painted using LP7 and LP8, with red lighter blue painted with Tamiya LP6.
I then applied all the decals, which were really nice to work with.
Several coats of Zero’s 2K Diamond Finish were then laid down, which for the first I managed to get almost no trash in it.
That’s it for the body shell at the moment, as this is a rally car I won’t be polishing the finish to a glass finish, plus it is going to be weathered so that would be pointless.
The bumpers and rear spoiler aren’t glued in place yet, I only put them there for the photos.
Anyways next up is the chassis and engine.
As always thanks for popping by for a look.
Cheers

Update 3 11/12/2025
Hi everyone it’s time for another quick update on the D.Modelkits 1/24 Ford Sierra Cosworth Q8.
Next up is the superbly detailed USCP Cossie engine upgrade kit. The level of detail in this kit is simply superb, just look at some of the photos of the parts, the majority of which are cast, with some 3D parts thrown in.
The engine has been painted with a mixture of Zero Paints Aluminium, Steel and Medium Aluminium paints, along with a smattering of Tamiya LP colours.
I could go on and on about the level of detail in this kit, Misha from USCP really has done this engine justice.
Next up is the rest of the chassis, then the engine will be mounted, and wired.
As always thanks for popping by for a look.
Cheers
